"Some day, you're going to tell me this story, right? I mean, with a name like Tiberius, there has to be a story."

Status: One-shot. Complete.

This is rather angsty, but I liked something about the progression of the story from Jim's seventh birthday onwards as measured against his grandfather's aging. The little details really make this story, though occasionally it's a bit too vague.

Summer Camp by Syl. Jimmy Kirk arrives on Tarsus IV in time for a planet- wide disaster. He and his companions must evade capture by Kodos' troops and free the colonists that have been condemned to death.

Status: 3 chapters. Complete. (There is a sequel called Honor Code about Kirk's first years in the Academy)

Don't be fooled by the adventure novel like summary up there. While there are moments of light-heartedness, this fic goes deep into the atrocities on Tarsus IV with lots of angst, death, and horror. Jim's perhaps pushing gary-stuism at times, and I almost didn't rec this cause the final climax battle scene didn't make a lot of sense, but you really won't find a more in depth story about what happened on Tarsus IV. It's an interesting story to boot with great OCs, so go read.

Complete.

I have a weakness for good fics dealing with Tarsus IV. There are a lot of emotional ones out there, but this one, dealt with from afar, was equally satisfying as both a way of filling in canon, and showing you Pike's character. I think the first scene is a little confusing, but other than that, it's a good fic.

Complete (but there do seem to be Pike/Archer sequels which I'm not going to read)

I never thought there was a fic out there that could make me think fondly of Enterprise, but this portrayal of Archer (even if the timeline is off... not to mention, how the fuck do the dogs live that long, nevermind the humans??) is really nice. I like how he and Kirk bonded, and that it all felt right. Good job.

When Jim meets the older Spock in that horribly cold ice cave, only a small part of him is shocked. Of course, he thinks to himself. Of course I can see the future and dream of my as-of-current-arch-enemy fucking me senseless and then meet his alternate-older self on an icy hellhole where he basically left me to die. Of course. Life is never fucking simple. Spock/Kirk

Status: 2 parts. Complete.

I enjoy reading AU stories about supernatural/mutant powers, but they're mostly self indulgent so I don't rec them much. This story, on the other hand, has a Kirk who can see the future in his dreams, but is really just about Kirk as he lives and grows up. It's melancholy and sweet, which is not something you see much in ST fic *L* but was appreciated. I really loved how Kirk connected with his crew and the polite treatment of Uhura/Spock. Well done.
