01:13 am: Doctor Who - Time v.3.0 Time v.3.0 by Teyke. It has been suggested that after his eighth regeneration, the Doctor begins lying about his age. The official explanation is that he has simply lost track. This is a third possible explanation for the discrepancy between his ages in the new and old series.

I really admire how much research and thought went into this fic. It's quite angsty, but the buildup is slow. I do think it could be an almost accurate reflection of what the Time War was really like too.
This is a sweet little fic which is a little overly sentimental for my tastes, but it was a novel concept and it was great to see Bilbo and Bifur interacting and growing.
07:09 pm: The Hobbit - Did you see an oliphaunt? Did you see an oliphant? by rabbitinthewoods. Autumn turns the world burnished gold and rust red, and sometimes he dreams of bringing an adventure right to the heart of the Shire, just to shake things up. Would do all these stick-in-the-muds some much needed good. He does not anticipate said adventure actually occurring.

A better description of this fic would be Bilbo returning to the Shire and getting his badass on. It's got a quite thoughtful ending, but I mostly liked it because it has Bilbo using the skills he learnt on his journey and showing how he had changed rather than telling. I really hate the title though.
10:21 pm: Naruto - Ten Years Gone Series Ten Years Gone Series by 100demons. Thirty year old Kakashi was supposed to have been killed by Pein during the Invasion. Instead, he wakes up in the body of his twenty year old self.
I don't quite always agree with the characterization of Kakashi in this fic, though it is within the bounds of canon. Other than that, this is a great story about Kakashi. It's also lovely to see everyone ten years before Naruto starts without the weirdness that seems to creep into a lot of these fix it fics. Enjoy!
12:31 am: Elementary - Solve for X Solve for X by Yahtzee. Their relationship as it stands has one mathematical certainty: It will end in twenty-five days. At that time, her sojourn as his sober companion will end. Either Watson will pass out of his life forever, or Holmes will have to devise another option.
Status: One-shot. Complete.
I can't quite decide if this should be categorized as gen or romance since nothing really happens but Sherlock does a lot of thinking. This is a point perfect character study and is well worth the read, regardless of how I classify it.
Status: 2 stories. First story: 26 chapters. Complete. Second story: 18 chapters. Ongoing.
I had a hard time getting into this story because I was worried it'd be too angsty or not have a happy ending. But since I've read it, I can assure you it does. All the dwarves are just great in this. It's a long, involving action story, and I liked the role Legolas was given. All in all. A lot of fun.
12:33 am: The Hobbit - Unsafe Places Unsafe Places by rabbitinthewoods. Hobbits do not, in general, have records of their time before the settling of the Shire. But some things are known. Some things are held as truth. One of those, held in the mind of every hobbit before they even have the words to define it, is that fauntlings must be protected at all costs. So when Bilbo wakes abruptly to a muffled crying, there's nothing for it.

It's kinda nice to see a hobbit fic based on a cultural misunderstanding which isn't related to courting (that particular trope is getting a bit old). Also, Bilbo is awesome here.
12:39 am: The Hobbit - Ghelekabad Books Ghelekabad Books by icarus_chained. In an Erebor recovered under Thrain and in the process of rebuilding under his son Thorin, a wandering bookseller named Bilbo Baggins falls in with a bad, or at least rather suspect, crowd, and somewhat accidentally starts an industrial revolution with the help of a young scribe and a brain-damaged toymaker. Canon-divergent AU, focused on Bilbo, Ori and Bifur (with attendant families)
Status: 3 chapters. Ongoing.
Characterizations are perfect, and the plot is low key but fascinating (at least to me). It's nice to see so much focus on some of the other dwarves, and I just love the way this story seems to be going.
Since this is canon compliant, with only a little bit made up since Tolkien never gave us much background on Legolas, this fic tends to be a bit on the wordy side. If you can get past that though, it's a very nice insight into Legolas and Gimli during this part of the book which slots perfectly into canon.
Fili gives a little snort, as if he doesn't believe that, but he doesn't press any further, either. Instead, he hands the crumpled note back through the bars and says, "Burn that, will you? And..." Another moment's pause; then the dwarf seems to make up his mind. "And come back and speak to me, if—"
"If I hear any more word of your uncle," Legolas finishes for him.
Fili grins, teeth glinting white in the darkness. "If you've a mind to," he says, "news or no news."

I like this version of Legolas and Thranduil, though it may not be to everyone's taste. This is a bit of a melancholy story considering the canon, but I'd be happy to make it my headcanon.
03:10 pm: The Hobbit - As Sunshine Falls on the Wretched As Sunshine Falls on the Wretched by KivrinEngle. Bilbo Baggins, the newly appointed Master of Bag End, has just reached his majority. He lives alone in his fine house, managing his estate, and ignoring the people of Hobbiton as much as they avoid him. When a storm lands him with an unexpected (and unwelcome) little visitor, all Bilbo wants to do is find the baby Dwarf's missing family so he can get back to his own life.
That's not what happens.

Adorable and fluffy. Might rot your teeth. All though there is a little heartbreak, it has a happy ending.
01:32 pm: The Hobbit - Burned to a Cinder Burned to a Cinder by ferretbaby.A Cinderella-esque AU. Bilbo, a lonely hobbit of the Shire in the valley outside Erebor, gets a job as a cook in the dwarf kingdom to pass the time and keep himself occupied after his mother’s death. One day he meets a regal dwarf, who he thinks is a thief and trespasser, and throws an apple at his head, never knowing he’s just assaulted the dwarven Prince. Thus begins the antagonistic and somewhat odd courtship of a hobbit and the next King of Erebor.

If you've ever wanted to read a Jane Austen novel with a bit more humour set in Middle earth, this is the fic for you. It's hilarious and cute.
This starts off a bit slow, but soon gets into the groove. It's got a great Nightingale pov, and shows the uncertainties he doesn't really show Peter. Interesting, if lowkey plot too.
02:11 pm: Discworld - The Importance of Being Mostly Human The Importance of Being Mostly Human by gogollscent. In which Susan identifies "Where's My Cow" as a proto-talismanic anchor for Young Sam's continued health and existence, and tries very hard not to wonder what the Vimes' butler does on his day off. There may also be a lesson about the meaning of Hogswatch, but no one wants to talk about that.
Status: One-shot. Complete.
This Discworld fic you didn't realize you wanted or needed, but which fills in a lot of recent gaps in the Discworld canon. Very well done, though perhaps a little lacking in humour. It makes up for it with fascinating character interaction.
02:42 pm: Discworld - Soul Cake Soul Cake by zhiverny6. The time Carrot went to visit his family and missed the end of the world. A dwarf, a wolf and a soul cake duck.
Status: One-shot. Complete.
This fic starts off a little slow, but the punchline so to speak, is great. It has a really great Carrot too.
